all of mankind has a similar condition
seeking and not finding

and it's as though every step in a direction
determines what the end is
the very path, the very condition
is in dynamic flux
never really settling to any absolute

of course we don't see this in our lives
we say that things change
and that life has its ways
of fucking us up
and kicking us when we're down

but really the only reason why we
react the way we do is we're convinced
that there is something better
and when we accept that there isn't
we've changed our direction
until again we feel there should be
something better

there is nothing
that we can really do
and i'm tempted to suppose
that that helplessness
is the only real stability
in existence
